City of Amsterdam

Company overview

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, one of the key strategic topics for the city is its sustainability ambitions, reducing the municipality’s carbon footprint, through emission free mobility in 2030 and gas free heating in 2040. The city is making big strides in phasing out fossil fuel generated transport, the first zones are operational from 2025 onwards. In order to achieve that Amsterdam started pro-active development of its charging infrastructure back in 2012, now the city has over 8000 public charging stations. From 2017 onwards ‘Smart Charging’ has been developed, now adapted into national policy. The transition in Amsterdam and the whole country is now leading to heavy grid congestion problems, but also to new, innovative ways to see electricity, connections and most of all a collective way of streaming usage, promoting flexibility at both public and private electric vehicle charging strategies.
