Current/OS is a nonprofit, global partnership defining open standards for Direct Current (DC) electrical systems. By bringing together more than 150 partners across 30 countries, including manufacturers, certification bodies, integrators, universities and industry associations, Current/OS develops interoperable frameworks that enable safe, reliable and sustainable hybrid AC/DC power distribution.

Behind the meter, a new generation of DC-enabled electrical systems is improving power flow management, enhancing asset utilization and maximizing the use of distributed energy resources. DC architectures are laying the foundation for more efficient, flexible and resilient energy systems.

By reducing peak demand, increasing local use of renewable energy and storage, and smoothing power exchanges with the grid, direct current systems can support the transition to the all electric society and contribute to grid reinforcement.

Current/OS operates through collaborative working groups, aiming for open standardization, with the objective to build a common understanding of Direct Current technology and its potential role in future-proof grids.
