Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) is a multidisciplinary educational, scientific, and innovative complex with a well-developed infrastructure and modern material and technical base, which provides multi-level training of qualified specialists in various specialties.

The university is a leader in training specialists in light and chemical industries. The University has many unique scientific schools conducting research and innovation activities. In particular, The Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving of KNUTD has learning and research laboratory such as New Materials and Processes in the Electrochemical Energy Laboratory. This laboratory works in the direction of the development, production, and operation of fuel cells and electrochemical generators, primary batteries, accumulators, supercapacitors, photo-electrochemical converters of solar energy in electric; modern methods and means for ecological monitoring of the environment and detoxification, where electrochemical technologies and devices are the most effective.

The laboratory, directed by Dr. Volodymyr Khomenko, is well-equipped for materials characterization and has unique, custom-made equipment for electrochemical characterization and measurements. Researchers have a high level of expertise in electrochemistry and other fundamental areas of materials science and considerable experience in implementing many energy storage projects.
