At the Automation of complex power system institute at RWTH university, we implement a multidisciplinary research approach to capture the most recent advances in ICT to support the solution of the most advanced problems in the area of grid dynamics and automation. The research projects of our institute span from fundamental research to applied research. We consider interdisciplinary research areas to consider interdependencies between electrical and thermal networks and ICT infrastructure. With competence in high-performance computing and real-time systems, we design adequate simulation capabilities supporting the analysis of challenges within power networks of the future.
