The STRING megaregion is a political collaboration of 15 cities and regions across Northern Europe committed to leading the way in green technology and sustainable innovation. With over 4,000 thriving green tech companies and a rapidly growing internal market, the megaregion is known for its unique expertise and dynamic innovation ecosystem.

Northern Europe, as a whole is a hotspot for green technology, producing a significantly higher number of patents per capita than the global average, especially in renewable energy (Danish Technological Institute). At the same time the region carries great potential to create a cohesive hydrogen corridor and emerge as a frontrunner in the production and use of hydrogen.

Through active promotion of strategic infrastructure investments, green clusters, and public-private collaboration, we are establishing cross-border networks that elevate the megaregion’s status as a major global competitor in the green tech sector. STRING attracts 84% of investments from international sources, reflecting our appeal as a global green tech investment destination.
