Panel: Accelerating the Greening of the Gas Grid

With natural gas currently accounting for +30% of space heating in EU households, plus electrification in hard-to-abate heavy industry sectors proving challenging at least in the short to medium term, transforming the gas grid into a low-carbon gas carrier is vital. While there are lots of interesting projects underway, and the Grids Package is a step in the right direction, the 'greening ' of the gas grid still lacks coordination and impetus. How can we accelerate this transformation?
