Richard Van Leeuwen
After his study (automotive engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology) he was several years active as entrepreneur in the field of renewable energy and worked as sytems engineer for Grasso cooling systems and as consultant-project leader at Nedtrain consulting and Lloyd’s Register Rail Europe. From 2006 he started working for Saxion as senior researcher-lecturer in the field of renewable energy, being responsible for acquisition and management of projects regarding bio-energy, renewable energy in the built environment and technical innovations. He has (co)authored numerous reports and articles on the results of research for partners. In 2017, he successfully defended his PhD-thesis at the University of Twente on multi-commodity smart grids. From 2017, he is assigned as Professor Sustainable Energy Systems at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. The research group focusses on applied research in smart energy systems, hydrogen technology and biomass conversion processes.
