Joseph Otejere

Engr. Joseph Otejere is a seasoned engineer and innovation management specialist with over 30 years industry experience. He previously worked with various multinational organizations including First Aluminium Plc where he held responsibilities for product and market development in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. He also worked for ABB Powerlines Ltd as Construction / Project Manager, where he oversees construction and installation of various Transmission & Distribution lines, Power infrastructure and Smart Grid monitoring devices. Joseph is a serial entrepreneur and has founded several companies including Q-Excel Systems, and Modutek Engineering Ltd where he remarkably completed and commissioned the Geometric Aba Independent Power Project Overhead Transmission Lines and associated infrastructure. He graduated from the University of Benin, Nigeria with honours in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 and was awarded the Professor Smith prize for Best engineering technical design. He also has a certificate in Dredging Engineering from the Texas A&M University, USA, a Masters degree in Engineering Management from the University of Port Harcourt and currently a Doctoral candidate at the same University. He is widely travelled and has attended several technical training on Technical and Management programs. He has also attended various international conferences in many countries where he constantly features as presenter and speaker. He bagged a highly commended award at the PowerGen / Distributech Africa in Cape Town, South Africa in 2015 for his outstanding Paper on the construction of a novel Power infrastructure in Nigeria. Joseph was Chief Operating Officer of the International Code Council, Nigeria (ICC-NNC), Corporate member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, COREN registered engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Mentoring Nigeria. He is passionate about innovation and application of technologies in SMEs, especially in the Energy / Power and Agribusiness sector. He is married and enjoys playing Golf.
