BIOMASS-CCU
Gasification could be the next big technology to help the EU achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Converting biomass into gas can reduce the amount of waste in Europe while generating renewable energy. In this context, the EU-funded BIOMASS-CCU project will provide an innovative and economic biomass waste gasification concept for European municipalities, energy production companies and SMEs. Specifically, it will unite researchers based in the EU, China and Australia in an ambitious collaboration and exchanges involving 77 researchers. They will work to advance biomass gasification technology by integrating CO2 capture and utilisation with multifunctional catalyst materials. The overall aim of the BIOMASS-CCU consortium is to use conventional and advanced non-thermal catalysis to produce high-value alkenes from CO2.
