BIOMAT
With climate change becoming an ever-increasing concern worldwide, a growing number of business sectors are searching for ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Polyurethane products, often used by companies for building automotive furniture and bedding or for construction, are petroleum based and most of the time lack essential properties while also having a high carbon footprint. This has resulted in a need for more sustainable processes and products with a lower impact on the environment. The EU-funded BIOMAT project aims to help satisfy that need by establishing an Open Innovation Test Bed that would allow for cross-border partnerships and speed up innovations in nano-enabled bio-based foams.
