Consumers Leading the EU’s Energy Ambition Response through uptake of Heat Pumps

The project, kicking off in September 2023, aims to tackle the challenges that heat pumps consumers face, such as identifying the right solution, making their homes suitable for heat pump installation, accessing reliable installers and retailers, and financing the high upfront costs in Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Based on the successful model used in previous EU funded projects such as CLEAR, CLEAR 2.0 and CLEAR-X, CLEAR-HP will engage and support national consumer organisations to launch collective purchase schemes targeting consumers. While benefiting from the best practices of previous projects, CLEAR-HP will also introduce innovation to the model. CLEAR-HP will support the transition to renewable energy through the organisation of collective purchases of heat pump products, thus also ensuring that consumers’ households are more energy efficient. In addition, based on the assessment of available subsidies and loans at national level, the consortium will facilitate the adoption of heat pump products by providing support to consumers with the heat pump readiness of their house and through simplifying (where possible) the administrative procedures to apply for financing schemes.
