CO2Fokus
About: Reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere is a key global goal to combat the impact of CO2 on climate. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels also increases energy security and stability. Dimethyl ether (DME), a synthetically produced alternative to diesel for certain engines, is also used extensively in the chemical industry as an aerosol propellant. Even better, it can be produced by hydrogenation of CO2. CO2Fokus is developing prototypes for reactors that produce DME using CO2 emission point sources in industrial processes as the key reactant. Technologies will be cost-effective and energy-efficient, enhancing uptake of this green technology by industry CO2 emitters.
