EUROPEUM OG 2023

EUROPEUM’s 2023 project marks our first anniversary of our 4-year Framework strategy. It adopts a dual approach to citizens’ engagement and participation. First, to forge links between decision-makers, academia and scientists in the pursuit of transparent, evidence-based policymaking rooted in action-oriented research. Second, to engage and empower citizens through providing platforms for them to actively interact with elite stakeholders and participate in democratic dialogue on topical European issues. Europe stands on the precipice of a new era driven by the post-pandemic recovery, green, digital and societal transformations mandating ambitious, innovative, and action-oriented policymaking at both national and EU level. Simultaneously, the war in Ukraine has heralded a new reality in which Europe must remain united and realize its geopolitical ambitions while also addressing widening socio-economic inequalities as a result of the energy crisis. Europe is entering hard years, exacerbating risks of societal polarization. Through public and private activities bridging the intersecting target groups of decision-makers, academia, scientists and citizens, we seek to address these challenges, strengthen European integration, and foster societal cohesion around Union values.

Our proposal aims to synthesize the knowledge, input and priorities of our target groups gathered through national and international activities into actionable solutions addressing problem at both national and European level. We aim to achieve this through independent research, public events enabling citizens to participate in the democratic dialogue, private events bringing together decision-makers, academia and scientists, and educational and informational activities raising awareness of the EU agenda. Through our Brussels office, we will offer input to public consultations by EU institutions, thus acting as a catalyst for Czech visions for Europe and European visions for the Czech Republic.
