Integrating Building Renovation Passports into Energy Performance Certification schemes for a decarbonised building stock!
Where Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) show the energy performance of a building, a Building Renovation Passport (BRP) provides a plan –a renovation roadmap– for deep improvement of that performance, in one go or in several steps, and in accordance with its occupants’ needs and resources. The combination of EPCs with BRPs can trigger and facilitate deep renovations aligned with the 2050 objective for the EU’s building stock.
The 3-year iBRoad project developed a model BRP, combining an individual building renovation roadmap and a digital logbook (a repository of building-related information). iBRoad demonstrated the potential of the BRP by supporting single-family homeowners with tailored renovation advice, representing energy performance improvements of 60% on average.
The iBRoad2EPC project builds on the achievements of iBRoad, broadens the scope of the concept and adapts it to national EPC schemes, to prepare the roll out of next generation EPCs in Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain.
Looking for Energy agencies and national and local governments with ambitious building renovation targets.
