SCIROCCO
Many countries are making important strides toward meeting goals for transitioning from the combustion of fossil fuels to renewable and cleaner forms of energy. However, the transition will take time due to numerous challenges in technologies' performance, cost and scalability for mass production and use. The EU-funded SCIROCCO project will deliver a holistic solution that supports both augmenting renewable energy harvested while decreasing the emissions from fossil fuel combustion. The team will deliver technologies to store renewable energy as hydrogen and then burn it in combination with fossil fuels, taking advantage of hydrogen's exceptional flammability in smart combustors to enhance efficiency.
