About: Bioenergy is significant in order to meet EU renewable energy targets in 2020 and beyond. It also helps to ensure GHG emission reduction, security of energy supply and economic growth, in particular in rural areas. The Implementation Plan (IP) of Action 8, Bioenergy and Renewable Fuels for Sustainable Transport, describes the research and innovation (R&I) activities aimed at achieving the strategic targets adopted in the SET Plan Declaration of Intent (DoI), agreed in December 2017 by the representatives of the European Commission services, SET Plan countries and stakeholders most directly involved in the respective sectors. The EU-funded SET4BIO project will propose solutions and ways to overcome essential barriers identified in the IP8. It will coordinate key stakeholders and promote the best development practices.
