SHARP-sCO2

Air-driven/sCO2 cycles have emerged as the newest critical solution that can lead to highly effective and flexible concentrated solar power (CSP) plants in line with the 2030 EU targets. The EU-funded SHARP-sCO2 project will pave the way for development of a new generation of highly efficient and flexible CSP plants by coupling CSP with an sCO2 power cycle thanks to the development of a high-performant sCO2-air heat exchanger. The project will work on CSP-sCO2 power cycles and exploit air as an operating fluid. It will develop novel enabling technologies to reach high working temperatures, guaranteeing reliable and flexible operation, optimal working conditions, and high efficiency for the coupling of CSP with sCO2 power cycles. SHARP-sCO2 will demonstrate the techno-economic viability of air-driven/sCO2 CSP cycles.
