SPRINTER

Industry 4.0 aims at high capacity and reliable data transmission within industrial premises. The EU-funded SPRINTER project will develop a set of low-cost, energy efficient and ultra-dynamic optical transceivers and optical switching solutions tailored to the diverse needs of industrial networks. The project will combine optical components and methods from various powerful photonic platforms to develop 200 Gb/s optical transceivers and ultra-fast wavelength-tuneable 10 Gb/s transceivers. It will also provide a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer optimised for operation within space-division multiplexing networks. Additionally, it will develop groundbreaking photonics-enabled hybrid free-space optical and mmWave transceivers, supporting wireless connectivity. Finally, SPRINTER will develop a unified network platform, providing the required tools to support time-sensitive networking.
