SUNRISE

Serbia has adopted the EU decarbonisation roadmap. However, the leading energy in Serbia comes from fossil fuels. Progress towards energy decarbonisation is limited or inexistent, causing alarming pollution levels. Research capacity in the power system decarbonisation domain at the University of Belgrade (UB) remains undeveloped. Moreover, the UB lacks networks and collaboration at European level. The EU-funded SUNRISE project will support UB’s Power System Department (School of Electrical Engineering) to improve excellence in power system decarbonisation. The project will develop the Real-Time Simulation Laboratory for power system simulation, offer research staff training and mobility, and deliver new approaches in exploratory research projects with partners.
