TWIN-PEAKS
About: The value of products and materials is maintained for as long as possible in a circular economy. However, there will always be residual waste because not everything is recyclable. This is why it is important to keep this waste from entering the landfills. Waste-to-energy (WtE) plants (waste incineration with energy recovery) is one possible solution. The EU-funded TWIN-PEAKS project will establish a joint research strategy between Germany’s Technical University of Munich, Sweden’s Chalmers University of Technology and German company WIP Renewable Energies. Coordinated by the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) and Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), the researchers will foster the uptake of WtE innovation in Lithuania. This twinning collaboration will boost the research excellence of LEI and VMU.
