XL-Connect
It is likely that your future car will be a battery-powered electric vehicle (EV). As many as 40 million electric vehicles will be humming along EU roads by 2030. While the increase in the number of EVs is excellent news for the environment, it is a challenge for Europe’s energy system. The EU-funded XL-Connect project will develop a way for EVs to store energy while parked, in order to increase grid stability. Specifically, it will optimise the entire charging chain – from energy provision to the end user. The project’s aim is to create a clear benefit for all stakeholders. The on-demand charging solution will be tested in Belgium, Germany, Italy and Portugal. Also, a digital twin of the charging chain will be created, with a holistic simulation environment and multilevel component models.
