Meet the energy lawyer bringing renewables aid to Ukraine

Yuliana Onishchuk tells Kelvin Ross about her Ukraine-based charity that delivers solar and storage solutions to schools and hospitals.

Kyiv-based charity delivers solar and storage solutions to schools and hospitals

Yuliana Onishchuk was working for Ukraine’s electricity company DTEK Grids when Russian forces invaded her country.

And at that point, she made “the most obvious decision of my life”.

The decision she made was to launch a foundation to bring solar and storage solutions to vital parts of the country’s infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.

Now, almost a year later, the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation which she founded has supplied a school with renewable off-grid power and given vital equipment to 10 hospitals and five field hospitals.
