Rotterdam: Making it happen
Enlit went on the road to showcase how Rotterdam takes on the energy transition: the role of the Port, the best case of Hydrogen use and the current status of E-transport.
With support from Rotterdam Partners, InnovationQuarter, Stedin and the City of Rotterdam, we explored how one of Europe’s biggest energy hub’s is driving the energy transition forward.
Site visit: Building Europe’s largest hydrogen plant
The Port of Rotterdam edges closer to its hydrogen ambition with the siting of Europe’s largest electrolyser: Shell’s Holland Hydrogen 1.
The electrolyser, on which construction is under way, is the first of what is intended as a gigawatt scale hydrogen production development at the Conversion Park on the Port’s Maasvlakte 2 site, with a scheduled 2025 operation date.
Project visit: Residential power-to-gas
We visited Stedin’s power-to-gas project in Rozenburg.
This project sees green hydrogen used to power a boiler to heat a residential building complex. Find out more from Stedin’s Energy Transition analyst, Tessa Hillen as she walks us through the project in the video.
Stedin chief talks realising, optimising and digitising the energy transition
In an exclusive interview during Enlit’s visit to Rotterdam, David Peters, Chief Transition Officer of the Dutch DSO Stedin, explains that his job is “all about realising the energy transition”.
How the Port of Rotterdam is enabling the energy transition with hydrogen.
The Port of Rotterdam is on mission to decarbonise its operations and drive the energy transition forward with the integration of renewable energy, notably for the production of hydrogen.
