Ansaldo Energia and Azerenerji JSC partner on green power projects
Azerenerji JSC has partnered with Ansaldo Energia to drive cooperation in power generation projects| hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.

A cooperation agreement has been signed between Azerbaijan power producer Azerenerji JSC and Ansaldo Energia to drive cooperation in power generation projects, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.
The MoU was signed at COP29 and will focus on the implementation of new projects to drive energy efficiency in power generation in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The agreement also makes provision for a hydrogen production plant in Azerbaijan using electrolyser technology developed by Ansaldo Energia Group via its subsidiary Ansaldo Green Tech. Also, the partners will consider the future implementation of a new hydrogen-fired power plant, as well as joint cooperation in carbon capture and storage, small moduler reactors and energy storage.

Baba Rzayev, the president of Azerenerji OJSCs, commented in a statement: “As the result of modernisation works carried out during past 20 years Azerenerji has achieved significant efficiency indicators, such as 2.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas savings and 5.58 million tons of CO2 emission reductions.
"One of our major goals is to support Azerbaijan in tackling climate change. In this regard, we have increased the capacity of renewables (mainly hydro) up to 270MW in just three years and the energy transition process will continue. We are pleased with the partnership and support from Ansaldo Energia in decarbonising the power sector of Azerbaijan.”
