Ansaldo Energia partners with Uzatom to develop nuclear tech
Ansaldo Energia has signed an MoU with Uzatom to explore collaboration in advanced nuclear technologies and the development of SMRs.

Ansaldo Energia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzatom), aimed at exploring collaboration in advanced nuclear technologies and the development of small modular reactors.
Under this agreement, Ansaldo Energia and Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzatom Agency) will pursue strategic cooperation in areas such as the design and construction of next-generation nuclear power plants, nuclear waste management solutions, and professional training programmes.
Particular attention will be dedicated to Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), due to the increasing global demand for decarbonised energy.
Furthermore, the partnership will focus on joint professional development initiatives to strengthen technical expertise in nuclear energy.

Ansaldo Energia, through its subsidiary Ansaldo Nucleare, will bring experience in nuclear technology, including Generation III and Generation IV reactors, as well as fusion reactor technologies.
According to Ansaldo Energia, this collaboration reinforces Italy's strategic partnership with Uzbekistan, and will promote the development of technological innovation in both countries.
The news follows an announcement from Ansaldo Energia last month, regarding the partnership with Enel and industrial technology group Leonardo. The trio established Nuclitalia, a company focused on studying advanced nuclear technologies and market opportunities.
Nuclitalia will assess the most innovative and mature designs of new sustainable nuclear power, with an initial focus on water-cooled Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
