Carbon8 appoints Paul Drennan-Durose as CEO
Carbon8| UK-based CCUS specialist| has appointed Paul Drennan-Durose as its new chief executive officer with immediate effect.

Carbon8, the UK cleantech company that specialises in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) has appointed Paul Drennan-Durose as its new chief executive officer with immediate effect.
Paul Drennan-Durose is the former CEO of INEO Partners Ltd. and Powerhouse Energy Group PLC and succeeds John Pilkington who becomes non-executive chairman.
Carbon8 is originally a spin-out from the University of Greenwich (London) and has EDF Pulse Ventures and French-headquartered VICAT SA group as its main investors.
The company has developed and commercialised a technology (Accelerated Carbonation Technology) to help hard-to-abate industrial sectors to decarbonise, and shift to a more circular operation by converting their residues into assets for commercial use.

Paul Drennan-Durose commented in a statement: “With the significant support of two major investors in EDF and Vicat SA, I’m delighted to have joined Carbon8. Carbon8’s CCUS solution is relevant to heavy industries seeking cost-effective ways to decarbonise their operations and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.”
According to Carbon8, its patented technology combines industrial residues with captured CO₂ emissions to produce carbonated products. The solution is housed in two 40FT shipping containers, providing a scalable and modular solution.

The CO2ntainer can be deployed directly to an industrial site, capturing carbon from the point source and permanently storing it in the output materials of the ACT process. This form of permanent CO2 capture and storage enables heavy industry to better manage their residues, addressing their goals of zero landfill and Net Zero emissions.
The new materials manufactured in the process are carbon-negative lightweight aggregates with applications in the construction industry.
Carbon8 is working on developing this product range for different applications, including fertiliser.
Carbon8 has achieved a number of milestones over the past three years; these include deploying its technology at a Vicat cement plant in France and at an EFW plant in The Netherlands and establishing business partnerships with FLSmidth and Return Carbon.
