ACER:• Drives a more integrated and competitive EU energy market, reducing costs and strengthening member states’ resilience to shocks.• Presses for more efficient and coordinated pan-EU infrastructure and grids, enabling further electrification and faster renewables growth.• Monitors EU energy markets to make sure they function well.• Monitors energy trading to deter market manipulation and abuse, increasing trust in energy markets.• Provides independent, data-driven advice in the public interest.• Coordinates and complements the work of the EU-27 national energy regulators (promoting best practices and common rules).

ElectricityThe Electricity Department supports the European market integration through activities such as developing, implementing and monitoring the European electricity network codes, improving infrastructure and network development, and ensuring effective market monitoring.
Energy System NeedsThe Energy System Needs department is responsible for assessing and addressing the evolving requirements of Europe's energy system to ensure its efficiency, reliability and sustainability.
Gas, Hydrogen and RetailThe Gas, Hydrogen and Retail Department works to advance European market integration and support decarbonisation by focusing on gas markets, emerging hydrogen markets, and energy retail & communities.
Market Information and TransparencyThe department oversees market data policy and market data reporting to support compliance with REMIT regulation.
Market Surveillance and ConductThe Market Surveillance and Conduct department oversees the market surveillance and market conduct tasks under REMIT.
REMIT InvestigationsThe REMIT Investigations Department was established in 2024 to implement cross-border investigations under REMIT. We will be recruiting staff for the REMIT Investigations Department in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Coordination, Operations and LegalThe department ensures horizontal coordination, programming and reporting, and provides the necessary means for ACER’s effective financial, IT and legal operations.
The Strategy Delivery and Communications team and the Human Resources and Facilities team play a central role in ensuring the provision of key support functions to ACER in fulfilling its mandate, objectives and goals.
