Solar PV plant developer SUNOTEC has announced the launch of SUNOTEC Iberia, a new division dedicated to expanding the company’s presence in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.

This strategic move aligns with SUNOTEC’s commitment to growth in high-potential solar markets and to delivering local expertise to meet rising renewable energy demands.

The establishment of SUNOTEC Iberia will allow the company to understand market-specific challenges and build long-term partnerships. A local presence will also facilitate understanding of regional conditions and regulations, enables flexible responses, and allows for direct and prompt communication with clients, partners, and authorities.

To lead this new chapter, SUNOTEC has welcomed two industry professionals, Bárbara Llinares and Alejandro Ramos.

Ramos, with nearly a decade of experience in the renewable energy sector, brings expertise in solar mounting systems and project management across the Iberian and Latin American markets.

As the managing director of SUNOTEC Iberia, Ramos will focus on building the company’s presence in Iberia, Central America and the Caribbean, ensuring projects are optimised, sustainable, and aligned with local needs. Having managed both project delivery and sales in previous roles, he combines technical expertise with strong client relationship skills to drive SUNOTEC’s growth in the region.

“Central America and the Caribbean are rapidly emerging as renewable energy hubs. With SUNOTEC’s proven ability to deliver turnkey PV plants and integrate cutting-edge technologies, we are perfectly positioned to provide solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable,” said Ramos.

Bárbara Llinares, a mechanical engineer with 10+ years of experience in large-scale PV projects, complements the team as Turnkey Engineer director Iberia & LATAM with her background in engineering design, project delivery, and client-focused execution. Llinares will focus on aligning SUNOTEC’s technical expertise with local regulatory requirements to establish a solid foundation for SUNOTEC’s presence in the new regions, while ensuring smooth project implementation and strong client relationships.

Commented Llinares: “SUNOTEC has the culture, experience, and innovation mindset to become a true strategic partner in LATAM. I look forward to structuring SUNOTEC’s presence in the region, ensuring we not only deliver high-performance projects but also create lasting value for local communities.”

SUNOTEC Iberia is set to play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s business outside Europe. Besides Spain and Portugal, the company has ambitious expansion targets for Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

These markets present significant opportunities for large-scale solar installations, and SUNOTEC’s integrated solutions model positions the company to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

SUNOTEC, with more than 11GW of PV capacity built worldwide and a growing project pipeline, is looking to leverage the new division to secure major contracts and explore manufacturing opportunities in the region.

Bernhard Suchland, CEO of SUNOTEC, emphasised the importance of this milestone: “Expanding into Iberia and LATAM is not just a geographic step; it is a strategic leap. These markets are critical for the global energy transition, and SUNOTEC’s integrated approach allows us to deliver solar projects that combine technical excellence with economic efficiency."
