TrinaTracker to supply trackers for 510MW solar project in Uzbekistan
TrinaTracker has signed an agreement with Dongfang Electric International Corporation to provide 510MW solar trackers for solar projects in Uzbekistan.

Chinese-headquartered TrinaTracker, a solar tracker solution provider under Trina Solar, has signed an agreement with Dongfang Electric International Corporation to provide 510MW solar trackers for solar projects in Uzbekistan.
According to the contract, TrinaTracker will supply Vanguard 1P solar trackers to the Jizzakh and Samarkand solar power plants in Uzbekistan.
The Jizzakh plant is a 220MW solar PV plant situated in a 562-ha area situated 243km southwest of Tashkent and 25km west of the city of Jizzakh. The Jizzakh Plant will be connected to the national grid by the 14.70km 220kV new overhead transmission line to the nearest substation in Saribazar.

A 220MW solar PV plant situated in a 438-hectare (ha) area in the Kattakurgan district, 50km northwest of the city of Samarkand. The plant will be connected to the national grid by the 4.5km 220kV new overhead transmission line to the nearest substation, in Ishtihan.
Once connected to the grid, the two projects will generate 1.1TWh of renewable electricity annually, cutting an annual average of around 110,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
According to TrinaTracker, both are key projects in support of the government’s solar target of 4GW by 2026 and 5GW by 2030.
Wang Ai, vice president of Dongfang Electric International Corporation, said: “TrinaTracker has already had a successful experience in Uzbekistan, and their ‘product+service’ lifecycle solution has proven to be good, so we’re confident the construction of the Jizzakh and Samarkand projects in collaboration with TrinaTracker will also be successful.”
This is the second supplier contract TrinaTracker has secured for solar plants in Uzbekistan. TrinaTracker previously provided 2618 sets of solar trackers for the 100MW Nur Navoi Solar Project, the country’s first solar power plant, which was inaugurated in August 2021.
According to the International Energy Agency, Uzbekistan is one of the world's largest natural gas producers, producing around 85% of its electricity from gas. It also has a relatively strong hydropower sector, with hydro producing over 10% of the electricity supply.
Although solar is largely an untapped resource, the solar energy gross potential totals 2,134 x 103 petajoules (PJ), while the technical potential is estimated at 7 411 PJ, which is equivalent to almost four times the country’s current primary energy consumption.
