ENGIE Brasil Energia has awarded ANDRITZ a contract for modernization of the 424MW Jaguara hydropower plant.
Located on the Grande River in Rifaina, Sao Paulo State, the hydropower plant is an important asset of ENGIE´s hydro generation fleet and has been in uninterrupted operation since 1971.
The project aims at the extension of asset lifetime and its performance improvement. The modernization project is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

The ANDRITZ scope of supply includes the modernization of the four Francis turbine-generator units with a capacity of 106MW each, governors, excitation system, automation system, and all related auxiliary systems. The contract will be executed by ANDRITZ Hydro Brazil.
The Jaguara hydropower plant was incorporated into ENGIE’s generating complex in 2017 through an auction by the Federal Government.
ANDRITZ offers plants, equipment, systems and services for the pulp and paper industry, the hydropower sector, the metals processing and forming industry, pumps, solid/liquid separation in the municipal and industrial sectors, as well as animal feed and biomass pelleting.
ANDRITZ Hydro supplies electromechanical equipment and services for hydropower plants, with an installed fleet of more than 470GW.
