Avangrid installs final solar modules at True North in Texas
Avangrid has announced that the final modules of the 238MWac True North Solar project have been installed| a milestone they say has been achieved ahead of schedule.

US-based energy company Avangrid has announced that the final modules of the 238MWac True North Solar project have been installed, a milestone they say has been achieved ahead of schedule.
Over the past few months, Avangrid has installed more than 488,000 solar modules at the True North Solar site, which is located in Falls County, Texas.
Pedro Azagra, Avangrid's CEO, commented in a release: “This is a major accomplishment and we are proud of the hardworking women and men who are bringing this clean energy project onto the Texas grid.
“In celebrating this milestone, we look forward to finishing the project...”
Avangrid will soon begin building a dedicated operations and maintenance facility at the site, with commercial operation expected at the end of 2024.
Once complete, True North will become the largest solar project in Avangrid’s portfolio. While the company has developed projects in Texas for over 15 years, this will be its first solar project.

Once construction is completed, True North will supply power to Meta, to support their operations in the region. In March 2023, Meta and Avangrid signed a power purchase agreement to ensure the supply of clean power to Meta's data centre in Temple, Texas, the company's second data centre facility in Texas.
Construction of True North has supported 350 jobs at the peak of work and will maintain several permanent, high-paying jobs for the life of the project.
Avangrid is a US subsidiary of Spanish energy firm Iberdrola. In May this year, Iberdrola announced the acquisition of the remaining shares of Avangrid in a deal valuing $2.55 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024.
