In an exclusive interview at Enlit Europe 2022, Pamela Largue talks to independent energy expert Hemmat Safwat about how to move away from fossil fuels with a specific focus on natural gas to hydrogen.
Safwat talks about the use of fossil fuels in three main categories; namely power generation, transport and within industrial contexts. He emphasised that each one requires a tailored approach to decarbonisation to ensure we successfully move away from coal and oil.

As for natural gas, "it will be around for a while," said Safwat
The goal is ultimately gas to hydrogen, explained Safwat, however in the near term natural gas will continue especially as we work to secure economical hydrogen.
