Industrial manufacturing company Doosan Enerbility is teaming up with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) to expand into the US 7F (150MW) gas turbine market.

To this end, the partners have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a consortium of companies including husang Precision Industry, Daeyeong Metal, Daejin Metal Industry, Daechang Solution, Daehan Heavy Machinery, Seorim Industrial Company, Seojin Mechanics, Iljin Machinery and DHMI.

The consortium, referred to as Team Korea in a release, will collaborate on developing turbine technology, as well as fostering growth of the local industrial ecosystem and supply chain in the US.

According to Doosan Enerability, more than 660 units of the 7F gas turbine are currently operating in the US. Globally, the company forecasts the 7F gas turbine services market will value KRW 1 trillion ($692 million) in the future.

Team Korea has been preparing to enter global turbine markets by developing Korean ecosystems and improving work performed on 7F gas turbine hot parts.

“In cooperation with KOSPO, the Team Korea consortium has been steadily building up its experience here in the domestic market,” said Yeonin Jung, vice chairman and COO of Doosan Enerbility. “By leveraging our competitiveness which has been verified through numerous projects here in Korea and making active use of the network built by our local subsidiary, we aim to create success stories in the US gas turbine services market.”

Doosan Enerbility has a gas turbine service-specialising subsidiary located in Houston, Doosan Turbomachinery Services (DTS).

According to ResearchAndMarkets, the US gas turbine market reached a market size of $5.821 billion in 2024. The North American market is anticipated to continue expanding due to increased shale gas exploration efforts and quick improvements to industrial gas turbine capacities.
