According to think tank Ember, Thailand produced 68% of its electricity from natural gas in 2023, with only one-sixth generated from renewables, mostly bioenergy and hydropower.
To meet the country's high per capita power demand, fossil gas has powered around two-thirds of Thailand’s electricity since 2000.
Thailand aims to reach 37% renewables in its generation mix by 2037.
