Driving smart water innovation: Laison at ZAWAFE 2026
From June 9 to 11, 2026, Laison participated in the 14th Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition (ZAWAFE), held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.

As a key annual event for the regional water sector, ZAWAFE brings together industry stakeholders to advance sustainable water management and accelerate climate-resilient solution implementation across the region.
Laison showcased a comprehensive range of advanced smart prepaid water meters at the booth, including Multi-jet, Ultrasonic, and Electromagnetic types, supporting LoRa/LoRaWAN, GPRS, 4G (Cat.1), and other communication technologies. The solutions were presented together with the Hardware Data Management System (HDMS), customer mobile applications, and professional O&M support. These IoT-driven solutions are designed to reduce non-revenue water (NRW), improve billing accuracy, and ensure long-term operational efficiency across diverse operating environments.
Laison also introduced the Metering as a Service (MaaS) model, delivering an integrated metering and billing solution that combines hardware, software, connectivity, and O&M services under a long-term service framework. By shifting from product delivery to value delivery, the MaaS model not only reduces non-revenue water (NRW) but also enables water utilities to accumulate data assets, improve cash flow, and strengthen credit and financing capabilities.
A key highlight of the exhibition was the visit of Her Excellency Dr. W.K. Mutale Nalumango, Vice President of Zambia, to the Laison booth. Her Excellency took a keen interest in Laison’s smart prepaid solutions, recognizing their potential to modernize the nation’s water infrastructure.
Laison was also awarded a Certificate of Recognition by ZAWAFE in appreciation of its participation and contribution. The recognition underscores Laison’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that support Zambia’s Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Moving forward, Laison will continue to expand its presence in Zambia and across the African market, while deepening collaboration with local water utilities and partners. The company remains committed to supporting the digital transformation of water utilities through smart metering and data-driven solutions, enabling more efficient and sustainable water management systems.
