Power Engineering International to play ‘mission critical’ role in amplifying the messages of World Energy Congress in Rotterdam

Power Engineering International has today been unveiled as one of the official media partners for the World Energy Congress in Rotterdam.

Organised by the World Energy Council, the congress takes place in The Netherlands in April and will bring together leaders from all areas of the energy sector, including government ministers, executives, NGOs, academics and young entrepreneurs.

PEi and its sister title Smart Energy International are among the first World Energy Congress media partners announced today alongside others including US news business CNBC.

‘Me-first’ sentiment one of the greatest risks to energy transition says World Energy Council

Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General of the World Energy Council, said: “We are proud to announce the first tranche of World Energy Congress media partnerships and are grateful for their continued support.

“Today, avoiding a climate change catastrophe seems an especially urgent yet impossible challenge. Effective solutions hinge upon two key questions - how can we move from energy system transition to a positive societal transformation quickly enough?

“And how can we build a better future for those now living in energy poverty, while at the same time nurturing a healthy planet?”

Wilkinson said the congress “will convene representatives from the entire energy ecosystem including media around this ‘how to’ - enabling energy transitions to happen at pace and scale”.

She added: “Communication is mission-critical to this process and will rely on the contribution of our media partners to amplify the discussion far and wide, extending it beyond the walls of congress and into the living rooms, offices and study halls of the billions who make up the energy ecosystem.”

Kelvin Ross, Editor-in-Chief of Power Engineering International and Smart Energy International, said: “We are proud to partner with the World Energy Council. The energy transition is moving at pace, yet there are still barriers, and events like the World Energy Congress act as a launch pad for solutions to break these barriers.”
