Cubico Sustainable Investments and Australian utility Stanwell Corp will this year start building a new windfarm in Queensland’s Western Downs.

Cubico and government-owned Stanwell will have joint ownership of the project throughout construction and its 30-year operational period.

David Smith of Cubico said the company was “committed to growing its renewable generation portfolio in Australia, with expanded development activities and joint ventures a key component of our growth strategy”.
Smith said the Wambo Wind Farm will see up to 200 jobs created during construction and a further 22 full-time equivalent jobs during operations.
Vestas is the EPC lead for the first stage of construction, as well as the long-term operations and maintenance provider.
