The power will be supplied by three onshore wind projects in Northern Spain and will support Air Liquide in reducing the carbon footprint of its products.

Spanish energy company Iberdrola has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Air Liquide for 25MW of wind power to support Air Liquide's operations in Spain and Portugal.

The power will be supplied by three onshore wind projects in Northern Spain and will support Air Liquide in reducing the carbon footprint of its final products to industrial and medical customers.

Sergio Hernández de Deza, VP Global Corporate Customers & PPA of Iberdrola, commented on the announcement: "Iberdrola and Air Liquide share a commitment to offer a cleaner and more competitive future. Companies have an increasingly important role to play in ensuring that the energy transition and decarbonisation of the industrial sector continues to move apace. Agreements like this are critical to supporting the new renewable energy capacity that is being built."

In 2024, Air Liquide announced that the company had signed a record amount of multi-year PPAs across Asia, Europe and South America, adding more than 2,500GWh per year of low-carbon and renewable electricity to previously secured capacities. These agreements, most of them effective since January 2025, will enable Air Liquide to reduce its own CO₂ emissions by more than 1.2 million tonnes per year.

Iberdrola has extensive experience in PPAs, having announced 15 agreements in Europe, with companies such as Amazon, with which it has signed wind and photovoltaic PPAs in Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom for the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm. Additionally, Iberdrola has singed PPAs with Italian companies such as BTicino, Acciaierie Venete, Prima Sole Components and Bayer for a total of about 50MW.
