easySRI: Driving adoption of the Smart Readiness Indicator across Europe
With Europe speeding up its energy transition, accurately assessing and improving building intelligence is becoming more essential.

With Europe speeding up its energy transition, accurately assessing and improving building intelligence is becoming more essential.
The easySRI initiative addresses this issue head-on by offering a sophisticated, accessible digital platform aimed at streamlining the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) evaluation process for various stakeholders.
Addressing the challenge: Simplifying complex building assessments
Efficiently evaluating building smartness is essential to achieving Europe's ambitious energy efficiency goals.
However, the complexity and diverse nature of building systems, along with demanding assessment procedures, often pose significant obstacles for assessors and property owners. These obstacles impede adoption rates and obstruct the broad implementation of smart technologies in buildings across EU member nations.
Our solution: The easySRI platform
easySRI offers an intuitive, web-based platform integrated with advanced digital tools to streamline SRI evaluations.
The main features of easySRI include:
● SRI Calculation wizard tool: An intuitive step-by-step wizard that guides users through the assessment of a building’s SRI using either Method A or Method B, ensuring accuracy and ease of use.
● Interactive SRI assistant: Delivers instant support regarding the SRI framework and platform features, simplifying evaluations for all users, including those lacking technical skills.
● SRI Express: An interactive chatbot that effectively navigates users through every stage of the assessment, greatly minimising manual input mistakes and cutting overall evaluation time by up to 80% compared to conventional approaches.
● Detailed dashboard: Allows users to gain thorough insights into their building portfolios, featuring SRI scores, geographical distribution, comparative analytics and improving portfolio management.
● Customised recommendation system:
1. SRI Optimiser: Creates tailored improvement recommendations based on user-defined investment budgets, prioritising cost-effective smart upgrades.
2. Renewable energy and storage optimiser: Identifies the optimal mix of renewable energy solutions, such as solar power, wind energy, micro-CHP systems and battery storage, tailored specifically to individual buildings, reducing energy costs and reliance on traditional grids.
Impact: Practical and measurable benefits
The effectiveness of the easySRI methodologies is currently being validated through practical demonstrations at multiple sites across Europe.
With over 1,000 planned assessments, the easySRI project demonstrates considerable reductions in evaluation times, increased accuracy and enhanced stakeholder engagement, contributing significantly to the broader adoption of smart readiness practices.

Insights and user-centric benefits
Implementation experiences have underscored the importance of intuitive, user-friendly design and interactive tools to boost user acceptance and satisfaction.
Digital support systems have proven essential in overcoming assessment complexities, highlighting the platform’s flexibility and ease of use across various stakeholder groups, including property managers, facility operators and homeowners.
