INNIO and Rehlko in 1.25GW data centre gas engine deal

INNIO Group has formalised a significant step in its long-standing collaboration with Rehlko, signing a gas engine framework agreement that secures 1.25GW of capacity over the next three years.

Set against a backdrop of accelerating data centre expansion and renewed focus on grid resilience, the agreement provides Rehlko and its customers with assured, long-term access to supply in a tightening market. 

According to INNIO, a substantial share of the capacity will support hyperscale, colocation and enterprise operators as they navigate rapid, multi-phase growth strategies.

INNIO president Dr Olaf Berlien emphasised the importance of predictability in today’s energy landscape: “With this framework agreement, we are strengthening our partnership with Rehlko and creating long-term planning certainty in a market with rapidly growing demand. 

"It ensures that our customers can continue to rely on proven technology and dependable execution, even in highly critical applications such as data centers and grid stabilization projects.”

Echoing this, Rehlko president Brian Melka highlighted the strategic value of securing supply: “This agreement strengthens our ability to support customers making long-term investments in data centre infrastructure and flexible power generation. 

"Securing multi-year supply enhances visibility and confidence in delivery at a time when demand is being driven by structural, rather than cyclical, market forces.”

Delivery will be channelled through Clarke Energy, Rehlko’s in-house engineering and lifecycle solutions platform. The company brings more than three decades of collaboration with INNIO to the partnership, underpinned by a global installed base exceeding 10GW.

The new framework builds on an existing firm reservation of 700MW, now incorporated into the broader multi-year allocation.

Rehlko was formerly known as Kohler Energy and rebranded in September 2024, operating as an independent entity focused on resilient energy solutions.
