French startup WIND my ROOF has raised €2 million ($2.11 million) in a round of financing to accelerate the development of WindBoxes – a patented combination of rooftop wind turbines and solar panels.

The financing, provided by Group IDEC INVEST INNOVATION, business angel Antoine FUENTES, and historical investors EIT InnoEnergy and VINCI Energies, will be used to grow the company and support its new project in the Hauts-de-France region.

WIND my ROOF's technology is called WindBox, a solar and wind hybrid module consisting of a wind turbine developed specifically to capture wind at the edge of the roof, coupled with two solar panels.

With this funding, the company will work to diversify applications and use cases, while minimising environmental impact and enhancing integration with architecture.

According to WIND my ROOF, the financing will also aid industrial and commercial expansion, project development and recruitment.

In a press release, Innoenergy stated: “Wind My Roof is a highly promising startup with a role to play in accelerating the energy transition. We are delighted to be supporting them since 2020, and to renew our confidence in this talented team. Having already achieved excellent results, InnoEnergy is there to support them in their international growth. Through its tailor-made support, InnoEnergy is helping Wind my roof, among other things, to accelerate towards commercial maturity.”

WIND my ROOF created its first prototype in 2017 and produced the first industrial prototype in 2019.

The first installation of two WindBoxes took place as part of the Oasis énergétiques project at Paris La Défense.

The company aims to transform buildings into real players in their energy transition by increasing buildings’ energy autonomy and reducing their carbon footprint.
