EUTurbines elects Javier Cavada as new president
The Board of EUTurbines has elected its new leadership team, which will be led by Dr Javier Cavada as the new president.

The Board of EUTurbines, the European association of gas and steam turbine manufacturers, has elected its new leadership team, which will be led by Dr Javier Cavada as the new president.
Effective 6 November 2024, Cavada will lead the association’s strategic efforts to support Europe’s transition to a sustainable, decarbonised energy system in which turbine-based solutions play a central role.
Dr Cavada is the President and CEO of Mitsubishi Power for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), a company with a strong European footprint.
He will be supported in his role by elected EUTurbines vice-presidents: Andrew Passmore, Product Management leader at GE Vernova; Luigi Coltelletti, senior vice president Strategy at Italian turbine manufacturer Ansaldo Energia; and Thomas Thiemann, senior vice president Energy Transition Technologies at Siemens Energy.

Commenting on his election, Dr Cavada said: "The power generation turbine industry will play a crucial role in making Europe’s renewables-based energy system reliable and stable. While the mainstay power source of the future will be renewables, advanced turbines will play a vital role to provide a stable and flexible energy source to our grids. As President, I will work closely with our partners and policy makers across Europe, to scale up the innovation and use of clean fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia in turbines to meet our shared climate targets!"
Ralf Wezel, secretary general of EUTurbines, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Javier as President of EUTurbines. Javier’s leadership, combined with his vast experience in renewable integration, will advance the role of EUTurbines in shaping Europe’s energy landscape. Together with our Vice-Presidents, we will ensure that turbine technology is recognised as an essential element of the clean energy transition.”
EUTurbines is the only association of European gas and steam turbine manufacturers. Its members are Ansaldo Energia, Baker Hughes, GE Vernova, MAN Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Power Europe, Siemens Energy and Solar Turbines.
The Association advocates an economic and legislative environment for European turbine manufacturers to develop and grow R&I and manufacturing in Europe and promotes the role of turbine-based power generation in a sustainable, decarbonised European and global energy mix.
