The energy transition in Occitanie
In the south of France, Occitanie stands out as one of Europe’s most committed regions in the energy transition, driven by a diversified renewable energy mix including solar, wind, hydropower, biomass and hydrogen. Supported by abundant natural resources and an ambitious regional strategy, the region aims to become the first energy-positive region.
A major aerospace, industrial and mobility hub, Occitanie faces a key challenge: successfully decarbonising strategic industrial sectors and transport systems, while maintaining economic performance and energy sovereignty. Electrification of uses, low-carbon hydrogen, sustainable fuels, renewable integration and smart energy networks are among the key levers of this transformation.
