Ansaldo Green Tech wins €317m for electrolyser development
Ansaldo Green Tech has been awarded €317 million to support development of its AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) Electrolysers.

Ansaldo Green Tech has been awarded €317 million ($332 million) by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy to support development of its AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) Electrolysers.
The single stack electrolyser is capable of producing over 500kg of hydrogen per day, and according to the company, offers high levels of efficiency and flexibility, lower water consumption and reduced use of critical raw materials.
It is designed for remote and unmanned operations. The control system is designed to regulate hydrogen production and plant operation flexibly, allowing operations with a variable power input from the grid.

The development is part of the EU funded project IANUS (Inspiring and ANchoring trUst in Science), which among other aims, is looking to spur development and industrialisation of modular electrolysers, including 1MW containerised and open design solutions for multi-MW industrial applications.
Ansaldo Green Tech is focusing on commercial opportunities within industry, mobility and power generation, where hydrogen has the potential to play a role in decarbonisation.
The company announced the sale of its first electrolyer in November 2024.
