In the seventh Youth Talk, Csinszka Flora Bene, an energy policy consultant and manager of the young professional network European Energy Transition: East Meets West, catches up with Viktória Döme, who is currently working towards a PhD in Public Policy at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
As part of the Initiate Talks Series, Youth Talks is a fantastic opportunity to hear the voices of young professionals from across Europe, who are aspiring to be our future energy leaders.
Originally from Slovakia, Viktória discusses her research on energy technology innovation and innovation policy in the Visegrád Four (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) and dives deeper into the motivation of governments to adopt feed-in tariffs and Renewable Portfolio Standards. She also touches upon the energy transition underway in her home country.

Viktória is a young researcher interested in making an impact on clean energy policy in Central and Eastern Europe because she believes that there are many, yet untapped, opportunities.
She has been interested in climate change since an early age, which led to her undergraduate studies in Environmental and Ecological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Following her experience as a trainee at the Ministry of Environment in Slovakia, she decided to pursue a PhD in Public Policy with a specialisation in energy policy.
Her focus is on understanding the type of policy instruments that governments of smaller OECD countries and the Visegrád Four use to support sustainable development, including the clean energy transition. Her main goal is to identify policy gaps and advise governments on how their policy mixes could be improved to achieve a more sustainable future.
Coming up…
Marking the final interview in the Youth Talk series, Csinszka will be chatting with Denisa Kasa about her preliminary findings from her research into entrepreneurial opportunities in Eastern Europe and Balkans within the context of the energy transition.
