Mitsubishi Power inks $5.2bn gas turbine contract for Taiwanese power plant
The $5.2 billion project comprises five units which will have M501JAC (J-Series Air-Cooled) gas turbines as the core components.

Mitsubishi Power has signed a contract for the 2,800MW Tung Hsiao gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant project operated by Taiwan Power Company.
The $5.2 billion project comprises five units which will have M501JAC (J-Series Air-Cooled) gas turbines as the core components.
Besides the gas turbines, Mitsubishi Power will also supply the steam turbines and auxiliary equipment, with the generators being supplied by Mitsubishi Generator Co., Ltd.
It's a full turnkey solution, which will be delivered jointly with Taiwanese EPC company CTCI Corporation. CTCI will be responsible for the construction and BOP (Balance of Plant).

According to Mitsubishi Power, the contract will support the ongoing renovation efforts of the Tung Hsiao Power Plant designed to reduce emissions and increase generation capacity.
Next to the new facility are the GTCC power plants updated in the first phase of the renewal plan. Mitsubishi Power supplied the M501J gas turbines for the three units that began operating in 2018.
The plant is located approximately 130km southwest of capital city Taipei and will help meet the increasing demand for industrial and household electricity in the surrounding region.
The five new power plant units are scheduled to start operation sequentially from 2030 to 2031.
