Siemens Energy has joined forces with another sixty companies and investors to launch the 'Made for Germany' initiative, which aims to breathe life into the ailing German economy.

Together, these leading companies have committed to investing €631 billion ($738 billion) in Germany’s economic growth by 2028, an amount that includes planned and new capital investments, R&D spending, as well as contributions from international investors.

The launch took place this week as Chancellor Friedrich Merz met with executives from top German firms in the hopes of rounding up private investment and providing the economy with a much-needed boost.

The 'Made for Germany' members, while positive about the German government’s recent steps to enhance economic sustainability, believe that more targeted measures and reforms need to be implemented. To this end, the members are positioning themselves as key points of contact with the government to contribute their expertise and help define priorities.

President and CEO of Siemens Energy, Christian Bruch, stated in a LinkedIn post that the initiative acted as a clear signal that "business and politics are pulling in the same direction. For more speed. For less bureaucracy. For real progress."

In a press release, Deutsche Bank, one of the initiative's members, stated that this pledge represents a strong endorsement of Germany’s potential and "underscores Germany’s continued appeal as an economic hub..."

The financial institution also emphasised the role the initiative can play in showcasing new and established projects, driving innovation and boosting Germany's competitive edge.

'Made for Germany' is a cross-industry initiative that includes representatives from the transport, pharmaceutical, and telecommunications sectors, among others. Members also include Amprion CEO Christoph Müller; E.ON CEO Leonhard Birnbaum; Marvel Fusion CEO Moritz von der Linden; 50Hertz Transmission CEO Stefan Kapferer; RWE CEO Markus Krebber; and Siemens CEO Roland Busch.
