Why the energy transition is not a sacrifice but an investment opportunity
Alba Forns, youth energy ambassador and co-founder of Climatize sat down at EUSEW to talk about the importance of investing in renewable energy projects.
Alba Forns, youth energy ambassador and co-founder of Climatize, sat down with Yusuf Latief at European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) to talk about the importance of investing in renewable energy projects.
"It’s important to stop framing the energy transition as all about sacrifice, it's an actual opportunity", said Alba Forns. And when she talks about actualising this opportunity, she means investment in renewable energy projects. That's why she co-founded Climatize, a climate fintech mobile app that will enable people to invest in renewable energy projects from as little as five dollars.

This app is a response to the difficulties when it comes to financing renewable energy projects.
“When it comes to project developers, obviously we need renewable energy projects but there is a lack of money that is going to those projects.”
She added: “If we look at small and medium C&I projects, there's no money going into those projects because it is not profitable for banks to invest in those projects”.
When it comes to solutions to these challenges, Forns believes that developers need a standardised way to apply for money and approach banks. Investors also need to invest in smaller projects than they would initially target because the energy transition needs to be decentralised.
