Accelerating decarbonisation with data choice and interoperability
From Europe’s leadership in sustainability to real-time data and AI investment, Trilliant outlines how interconnected devices, consumer information and network interoperability are accelerating decarbonisation.
Europe continues to set the pace on decarbonisation and sustainability, with growing momentum across multiple markets. As Jim Madej, President & CEO of Trilliant Networks, outlines, this progress is increasingly shaped by digitalisation, where interconnected devices and consumer-facing information flows are driving behaviour, deepening understanding and strengthening commitment to supporting utility partners in achieving their decarbonisation goals.
According to Madej, Europe has always been a bit of a trendsetter, and with decarbonisation and sustainability, it's no different.
That leadership is reflected in the pace of change across the region. “We see a lot of progress across the European markets, multiple European markets, and are excited to help our clients and partners to accelerate their decarbonisation journey.”
At the centre of that acceleration is digitalisation. “We see interconnected devices and consumer facing information flow to be critical to accelerate, behaviour, understanding and a deep commitment on behalf of consumers to meet and help our utility partners meet their decarbonisation goals.”
This shift is also shaping how Trilliant is evolving as a business. “At Trilliant, we are both a hardware company, a software company, and increasingly investing in things like AI.”
Underpinning this approach is a focus on flexibility and interoperability. “Our entire platform is built on the model of the Power of Choice, which effectively means whatever communication type, whatever network device, whatever information flow, whatever end result you're looking for, our networks can provide that interoperability.”
“We think device independence, the Power of Choice is critical for our utility partners in meeting their understanding and effort around decarbonisation.”
Madej notes that the role of data is equally central, “real-time data to the right person at the right time is critical, so that they can make informed decisions.”
From consumers to operators, that visibility is becoming essential to managing increasingly complex grid dynamics. Madej explains that across every level, from consumer to operator to administrator, factors such as alarms, EV charging events, load management and disaggregation, as well as sudden spikes in demand from sources like data centres, all shape how information flows across the grid, making it critical that the right data reaches the right person at the right time.
