Enlit Asia – Electricity Connect 2026: A Strategic platform to accelerate Indonesia and ASEAN’s energy transition

The event will highlight several priority areas in advancing the region’s energy transition, including electricity supply for data centers in ASEAN, digitalisation and information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, as well as the role of nuclear energy. 

These focus areas reflect the latest innovations, regulatory developments, and strategies shaping a resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem. 

Enlit Asia – Electricity Connect 2026 is fully supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia and PT PLN (Persero). Enlit Asia is a leading annual event for ASEAN’s power and energy sector, bringing together more than 11,000 participants and 280 exhibitors from various countries. The event convenes policymakers, utilities, industry players, technology providers, and innovators to discuss the latest developments, share insights, and shape the future direction of the region’s energy landscape. 

Electricity Connect, MKI’s annual event formerly known as Hari Listrik Nasional before 2024, aims to strengthen Indonesia’s electricity infrastructure as the backbone of economic growth and environmental responsibility. The event reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to building a reliable, affordable, sustainable, and future-ready electricity system, while also encouraging innovation, investment, and long-term energy independence. 

As a hub for Indonesia’s electricity sector and the international energy community, Electricity Connect successfully attracted 15,000 participants and 179 exhibitors in 2024 and 2025. This year’s event is fully supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia and PT PLN (Persero). This collaboration is crucial amid Indonesia’s electricity sector investment needs, which are estimated to exceed $500 billion in order to achieve the country’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target. 

As the backbone of national decarbonisation, the Government of Indonesia is accelerating the development of solar power plants (PLTS) with an ambitious target of 100GW. This initiative not only aims to reduce emissions, but also responds to the surge in electricity demand from the digital sector, particularly data centers, which are projected to grow by up to 20% annually in the ASEAN region.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Wanhar Abdurrahim, said: “The Government of Indonesia is accelerating the energy transition by opening significant green investment opportunities. Our main focus is to achieve the 100GW solar power development target as a key pillar of the national energy mix. We are committed to creating a conducive investment climate through consistent policies to ensure the availability of competitive clean energy for future industries, including addressing the rapidly growing electricity demand from the data center sector in Indonesia. Through Enlit Asia – Electricity Connect 2026, we invite all stakeholders to collaborate in responding to the expanding electricity needs of the data center sector through consistent and innovative policies.” 

In line with the government’s policy direction, President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasised PLN’s strategic role in translating the energy transition roadmap into tangible outcomes. During the upcoming Executive Briefing session, PLN will present its operational policy direction, focusing on accelerating renewable energy projects and strengthening the electricity system. “Through this event, we will present PLN’s clear policy direction, particularly in translating government policy into tangible results, from accelerating solar power projects and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development to strengthening the Village Electrification Program (Lisdes). In line with the theme ‘Powering Regional Sovereignty, Securing Energy System Resilience,’ PLN is here to showcase various quick wins and concrete achievements that demonstrate how Indonesia’s energy transition is already progressing through grid digitalisation, smart grids, and the strengthening of resilient systems. 

"We invite cross-border collaboration to build electricity infrastructure that is not only clean and reliable, but also capable of becoming the backbone of Indonesia’s and ASEAN’s economic sovereignty on the global stage,” concluded Prasodjo.

Chairman of the Indonesian Electrical Power Society (MKI), Suroso Isnandar, said that the strategic collaboration between MKI, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, PT PLN (Persero), and Clarion Events in presenting Enlit Asia – Electricity Connect 2026 reflects a strong multi-stakeholder commitment to advancing the energy sector. “The collaboration between MKI, Clarion Events, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and PT PLN (Persero) in organising Enlit Asia – Electricity Connect 2026 marks an important event to support and accelerate the development of Indonesia’s and ASEAN’s energy sector. The role of industry associations, in this case MKI, is crucial in bridging policy, industry readiness, and technological innovation in the region’s energy transition.”
